ABOUT FESTIVALS
Dalmatian Dance Festivals is the name for dance events held in Croatia in the Split-Dalmatia County. The organizers of the Dalmatian Dance Festivals are Jure Leskur and Ivana Žanetić Leskur (Dance Club Lambada), great lovers of dance and dance competitions, semifinalists of the world in the WDSF Professional Division showdance latin discipline.
The idea of organizing this event of a competitive and revival character arose due to the great love for dance and the desire to develop an international competition in Split that will bring together all dance styles from as many clubs in Croatia and abroad. The exchange of dance experiences, choreography, knowledge, dance skills and a great atmosphere are the reason for the large attendance at this event.
Split Dance Open was organized for the first time on November 19, 2016. in Split. Two years later this event changed its name to the Dalmatian Dance Trophy. This year, on November 16-17, the eigth Dalmatian Dance Trophy will be held.
Due to great interest and inquiries, in 2022. year, the Dalmatian Dance Cup is being organized. In addition to the Gala Dance Night for Juniors and Seniors (solo, duo / trio, groups, formations and productions), there will also be a Gala Dance Night for children (groups, formations and productions). Rich prizes await the winners.
Both festivals this year are held in Split, the most beautiful city in the world. Split is the second largest city in Croatia. It is located on the Adriatic coast, in central Dalmatia. Although it is surrounded on three sides by the sea, Split is surrounded by mountains, Mosor in the northeast, Kozjak in the northwest and Marjan hill. It is the second largest Croatian cargo port, but also one of the leading passenger ports in the Mediterranean. The story of Split began a long time ago, since the Roman emperor Diocletian decided to build a palace in which he would spend the last years of his life in peace. In those 1700 years, the Palace slowly became and became a city, which today attracts with its rich tradition, magnificent history, beauty of natural and cultural heritage.
